Such is the case with Delia Bradford, a child of Big Sur and of profes- sional artists. “I’ve always wanted to capture the beauty of what I saw around me,” she says. The artist can be seen around the Monterey Peninsula, painting “en plein aire” to create her impressions of the natural world around us, as generations of California artists have been inspired to do.Working in this manner immerses Bradford in her environment, allowing her to become one with her surroundings in real time. “I have a desire to hold onto the moment through my work.” She finishes her paintings in her Sixth Avenue studio/gallery, one of a handful of Carmel artists who can be seen working in person. Bradford initially sold her work at art shows and festivals throughout California before opening her gallery.“I feel humbled to be a professional artist mak- ing my living at my passion in Carmel,” she says. “This area was made to be interpreted through plein aire painting.” Gallery Delia is located on Sixth between Dolores and San Carlos in Carmel.
