David Hahklotubbe and Levin Jarrett presented “Deathbed Regret.” Designed by Hahklotubbe and comprised of polyethylene plastic sheeting, twine, fishing line, wine corks, seashells and netting, it is an homage to a patient who passed away without fulfilling a dream of flying a kite on Bodega Bay. Designed by Chris Balthasar and his wife Lisa Nicks- Balthasar, “Ninlil— Goddess of Wind & the Giant Redwood Warrior—Swirling Wind Dance of Nature” utilized recycled materials, including PVC pipe, redwood branches, a plastic tablecloth, water bottles, pillow stuffing, plastic pack- ing material, wire, duct tape, crystal curtain pieces and moss and twigs. 100 C A R M E L M A G A Z I N E • W I N T E R 2 0 2 4 Photo: Brian Mack Photo: Brian Mack
