Initially diagnosed with large cell b lympho- ma in 2014, she most recently underwent an excruciating stem cell replacement therapy at UC Davis after a 2023 relapse. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) has honored her with a 2025 Visionary of the Year nomination for her outstanding commitment to the LLS mission. She credits her faith, family and community with helping her on the road to healing. She gives her husband Doug—himself a survi- vor of Guillian-Barre Syndrome—the most recognition. “Doug and I have gone from keeping things private to understanding the importance of community support.” Steiny is highly grateful to Dr. Robert Shiffman and (r /atrina *ischer oJ 4acific Cancer Care Jor shepherding her treatment. Health challenges haven’t dampened her spirit or her infectiously optimistic view on life. “I face challenges by thinking ‘Hey. No crying. Pull yourself together, put your lipstick on, get through it.’” Doug, who is also her partner at Sotheby’s International Realty, adds, “She’s very stoic and very methodical, taking on chal- lenges as they come. She hits them head on, no matter what.” Today, “I feel healthy and strong.” True, that’s partly due to medical science, but more importantly, it’s a result of Lisa Steiny’s indom- itable strength of character that has seen her through these trials.
