Bhaj, Deborah and Kerry Lee all work together in the family business, Kerry Lee Remarkable Jewelry, which is celebrating 50 years in business in Carmel. A stroll by a Santa Barbara beach in his early 20s put Kerry Lee on a life path that has lasted 50 years. The former metal worker chanced upon a craft fair and noticed a table selling jewelry. “I picked up a ring and realized I had the skills to make it,” he says. “Within two months, I had quit my job and was making jewelry.” An opportunity arose when Lee was visiting his parents in 4acific +rove 3n a [alO on Cannery Row, Lee saw a shop for rent and settled in. He later moved to Carmel Plaza and has been in his current location in Carmel’s charming “Cottage Row” for 32 years. With son Bhaj, a gemologist and designer, and wife Deborah, managing director, Lee spe- cializes in classic-contemporary, wearable luxury pieces, crafted in 18Kt gold and platinum. After 50 years in Carmel, Kerry Lee Remarkable Jewelry is now serving families with second or third generations in tow. “We appreciate when people come in just to say hi or that they still love the wedding ring they bought 40 years ago,” Lee says. “It’s very rewarding to make something that brings enduring joy to people’s lives.” Kerry Lee Remarkable Jewelry is located on the NW Corner of 6th and San Carlos in Carmel-by-the- Sea.
