Two such are Brad Weber and Maia Carlson of Weber Goldsmith Gallery in the Crossroads Carmel. The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) honored Carlson and Weber with coveted First Place and Platinum Guild Awards in the Business/Daywear category for “Mariana,” a gorgeous ring that features an 18.44 carat aquamarine along with step-cut and pavé-set diamonds. The piece was a collaboration, with Carlson taking the lead. This is the fourth Spectrum the shop has garnered, and the first Jor Carlson, a graduate gemologist. She has worked with Weber for two years, after two decades in the Bay Area. “One of our clients fell in love with this aquamarine and asked me to design a ring that re¾ects her personal style,² Carlson says ±8he design was a challenge, but I love its clean lines and simplicity.” Weber says the Spectrum Award is his indus- try’s equivalent to an Oscar. “Most Spectrums go to the wholesale side of the business, so hav- ing two award-winning designers in one retail store is extremely notable,” he adds. “That’s a big honor that we’re both proud of.” For more information call, 831/626-7600 or visit www.webergoldsmithgallery.com .
